Bloc Quebecois Party of Canada

Why is it the Bloc only run in Quebec? I know it sounds like a stupid question because the Bloc's ultimate goal is to separate from Canada. However they also wish to strengthen French Canadian values and culture. Frankly if separatism was no longer part of their platform I would say they are a very good party. Most of the social justice claims they bring forward are far more reasonable than The NDP.

Two things to consider; First, there are many french people out east, especially New Brunswick, as well as in Northern Ontario and Winnipeg. I imagine if Quebec separated many of the people would, at least, consider migrating to the newly formed French nation.
Secondly, There is government financing in Canada for elections so every vote raises money for the party. If these French people good vote for the Bloc, the Bloc's coffers would be filled. further they could cash in on the racist who might vote for the Bloc in hopes that Quebec does leave.

I guess assuming that they do it simply for the money, and not to actually win a seat, its a great idea. A vote is a vote is a vote. Do you export quebecors to actually run, or do you pick the most froggy of the people in the town to be your candidate to save on the intraparty funding?

One thing it makes me wonder is if the Bloc would actually lose some credibility in Quebec itself if it did actually run outside of Quebec?

Another thing, is what kind of an idiot living outside of Quebec would actually vote for the Bloc? There biggest concern is getting more money for PQ. You'd lose on net benefit for your taxes.

Second thing - what kind of idiot votes for the Bloc?

Finally - I wouldn't want to be the candidate though, you could get lynched!

well since the leader of the bloc speaks english at a much higher level than the leader of the liberal party, the bloc might have a better chance of swaying votes outside of quebec than the liberals lol

I suppose if it alienates Quebec voters, it is not worth it. It is also true that their short term goal is to increase the portion of Canadian taxes directed at Quebec.
I guess you run local Frenchmen/Frenchwomen.
If you take separatism off the table the bloc are a reasonably good party in two respects. Their social justice platforms and the fact that they wish to make health care better.

I also assert that Duceppe has won every debate he has been a part of. He consistently gets his points across, is poignant, together and actually directs topics to where he wants them to be. Of course his goals are simpler to obtain than any other party leader but he certainly does achieve them.

gotta agree 100%...its sad but he has also shown to be more of a nationalist some time as seen in the english debate this year
